Medication Temperature Stability and Shipping Delays

How stable is the medication if it is exposed to temperature changes?

The medication remains safe and effective after temperature exposure. Compounded medications undergo stability testing to ensure they maintain their integrity under various temperature conditions, and they are formulated to remain effective for up to one week without refrigeration.

What temperature exposure has been tested?

Heat testing confirms the medication can tolerate:

  • Up to 220°F for 75 hours
  • Up to 86°F for 5 days

What should I know if my shipment was delayed or the package was not cold?

A delayed shipment or a package that is not cold on arrival does not necessarily mean the medication is no longer usable. The medication remains safe and effective under the tested temperature conditions described above.

How is temperature stability supported?

The pharmacy partner performs rigorous stability testing on compounded medications to confirm they maintain their integrity under various temperature conditions.
